I get called names on a fairly regular basis. I don’t know if you have noticed or not, but I spend an exorbitant amount of time criticizing people’s livelihoods. Because of this (the criticizing) I usually shake of the name calling and contribute it to a “knee-jerk reaction.” But a few years ago (I’m going to say like 4 – I’ve slept since then) I was corned by a coworker (shortly after Tweeting “made another one cry today…2 points for me!”) and was smacked with the mother of all insults. I was called VOID. That’s it. One word. POW!

I am a hardass. Or at least that’s what I like to tell myself. The truth is…I’m a Sap. (With a capital S.) I swoon over fluffy kittens, I lose all comprehension of the English language around babies, and though I tell my husband our DVR is full of ABC Family melodramas simply to torture him, the fact is, I just freaking love them. Let’s be honest for a second shall we? There is nothing more compelling than a gaggle of perfectly coifed uber rich socialites. The Princess. The Underdog. The Mean Girl (insert meow.) they are (in a sense)

As April quickly comes to an end, I realize I never posted anything about this being National Poetry Month. For some of you…you could really care less. Poetry may not be your thing, and I can appreciate that. But for me, it’s an integral part of my life. Though I don’t “blatantly” talk about it [poetry] on KO, I’m sure most of you have noticed by now that I open the majority of my reviews with quotes. 90% of the time these are quotes I found in anthologies of poetry. (Which is..coincidently, the ONLY thing I still check out

Much like there are two sides to every story, there are two sides to every person. We have our public side. The one we bring out on holidays. That encourages us to smile when we see a newborn baby, or congratulate a rival on their win over us. And we have the private side. The one that feels slightly less confident than we allow ourselves to appear. The one that shudders when no one is looking, or holds internal grudges either with someone else, or ourself. Neither side is perfect. And neither side is wrong. They are two

Quote This… “Every couple needs to argue now and then. Just to prove that the relationship is strong enough to survive. Long-term relationships, the ones that matter, are all about weathering the peaks and the valleys.” Sometimes late at night, when I have a hard time sleeping I turn on the TV and drown out my brain with mindless, utterly ridiculous programming. 9 out of 10 times it’s COPS. Aside from the blatant disregard for shoes (or teeth) I find the people on this show fascinating. With one exception: the screaming, crying, usually snot covered battered wife. THIS

Quote This… “The world is the same as it has always been but one split second decision could change everything; one choice to check one box will undeniably change your life.” I used to watch this show called The Sarah Conner Chronicles. For those of you that are Terminator fans, I’m sure you’ve either heard of it, or watched it for yourself. On this show was a girl named Cameron. She was a Terminator (aka a robot) and her soul purpose in life was to protect one human (who would eventually save the world) while decimating every other threat in her (or his)

Quote This… “Sometimes the happiest pace of all is sitting still” If thirty-year-old Megan were any more of a doormat, she’d have footprints on her back. She helps anyone and everyone, no matter the cost to herself, and she’s always been that way. Even the thought of withholding her assistance makes her feel sick. Worse, it makes her feel like she’s a bad person, selfish and unkind. She takes up running purely to avoid gaining weight, but as she trains with her cute but heartbroken coach Andrew she becomes more able to do things she’d never thought she

Quote This… “It’s like I’m not me anymore, like he’s changed me into a girl who thinks about the possibilities for life and love.” I don’t know if you have every had the opportunity to do so, but last week (when I finished Callie & Kayden) I decided, once and for all, to finally look up the word cliffhanger. Here is what Mr. Webster had to say: an adventure serial or melodrama; especially : one presented in installments each ending in suspense. Well, no shit. (I pretty much had that duh moment coming.) Then I thought about it a little more
