If you want to get to know Charles better be sure to follow him on Twitter @charleswdowdy. This one made me crack up. Warm Bodies – A Guest Review by TNBBC

Good morning all! Today’s guest review is brought to by a VERY talented reviewer/super mod. Though I don’t actually know her name (anonymity is a blessing sometimes) I can tell you that she is making gigantisaurus sized waves all over the book world! She first started TNBBC (The Next Best Book Club) on Goodreads back in the fall of ’07, and watched it grow from a few members to the largest, most active book group on the site. Her search for The Next Best Book has pushed her out into the world of blogging, tweeting, and facebooking. TNBBC’s focus is on supporting and promoting independent publishers

The Comings & Goings!

Afternoon Kindle-ites!!! Well…the time has come.  While I hate leaving y’all, the state of my brain (and it’s ability to properly function) insists that I go on hiatus. Now, before you get too caught up in the throws of a (though endearing) slightly melodramatic panic, let me assure you that it is not a long one.  As a matter of fact I think calling it a “hiatus” is a little misleading, it’s more of a “mini-break.” (I’ll be out only for the month of June) *sigh*   Anyways…though I will be gone, I felt ill at the thought of leaving all of you hanging,

40 Classic Books Every Horror Buff Should Read

With its visceral, primal, and psychological imagery, horror-themed media attracts just as many slavish devotees as it does squeamish detractors, and has for centuries. Though attitudes change across time, culture, and geography (and, along with them, narrative devices), horror’s core always remains the same. The most successful examples channel internal and external anxieties — many of them universal — and kick them right back to their readers with nauseating accuracy. Not every book here is necessarily of the horror genre, but is included as a means of diversifying the list and showcasing other reads fans might very well love. All

Words with Mollie! – A Quick Interview with Imogen Rose’s Lit Agent

Morning Everyone, I wouldn’t normally post an interview with a literary agent, but I thought… what the hey! It’s interesting and informative, therefore it couldn’t hurt.  Mollie (very recently) took on the job of representing one of KO’s most beloved authors Imogen Rose (The Portal Chronicles) so let’s be sure to show her some love. I present to you:     “Words with Mollie!”   Q:  Is Imogen the first indie author you have represented? Please share how you found each other. A:  Years ago, when I worked on the editorial side at Random House, I was lucky enough to

Paparazzi Beware!!

For some reason we (as an entire society…don’t go lying to yourself) are obsessed with actors/actresses. There is just something about them that draws us to their preverbal flame, (like moths hopped up on methamphetamines.) We watch their movies hundreds of times, buy clothing with their name splashed across the front of it, even spend hundreds of dollars a year on magazines full of half-truths, and artfully photo-shopped cellulite riddled thighs. Some of us even spend obscene amounts of time fawning over who is dating who and why, while others of us (myself included) are instinctually programmed to understand that

Teaching Death a Lesson

When I was in high-school I hated being told what to read. I thought (naively of course) that it was enough that we were actually reading; to turn around and then dictate our reading “material” was unnecessary and well…annoying as all hell. So…my teenage anarchist self chose not to do it. Flat out…I was not, under any circumstance, going to fold under the pressure of a heavy eyed glare, from a grossly annoyed Lit teacher, and read some lame as story about some lame ass farm. Nope, I was too good for that. Instead, while my class was busy dissecting
