Great looking book. I just finished Glow, which I was skeptical of after your review. Check my review of it out I also am doing a 3 day promotion of Robert Shield’s novel and would appreciate some love on that too. I feel bad because the author expected alot of comments and theres only 1 xD

Hunger Games series of course, but also Divergent, Shatter Me, Swan Song, The Stand, Alas Babylon (sort of counts) pretty much anything Dystopic. I’m a junkie…Will read this series whether I win or not

Omg…I swear, I cried for 2 hours at the end of this book. I was devastated. Make sure you have Kleenex handy & it’s imperative that you read something funny & light afterwards. Wonderful book though. WONDERFUL!

Land of Ash sounds a lot like Mike Mullin’s YA novel “Ashfall.” Which, by the way, is an awesome novel, if you haven’t read it yet.

I can understand where you would think the dialogue is a little too mature for their age, but I think you also have to take into consideration the situation they have been forced to live in, which.. (in my opinion of course) forces them to grow up much faster than necessary. Even if you are 16, if you have been forced to learn at an accelerated pace (like they have…hello, she is a medical researcher) and you are forced to participate in more “grown-up” activities (like having a baby) then is it so far fetched for them to act more adult? That’s not to say they didn’t have their childish moments either though, on several occasions you could see moments of regression, where all they wanted was to be safe and taken care of which is a very child-like trait.

As for the technology… I think that Wells did a wonderful job of explaining it’s existence vs lack of functionality when he talked about the need to conserve energy due to lack of gas or a general power source.

Anyways..blah blah blah… did that make any sense?

(again.. this is just my take on things. I’m glad you enjoyed it)
