For someone that reads as much as I do, it’s nice (every once and a while) to settle in for the night with a nice familiar author; an author I KNOW can write an entertaining and captivating story; so when the opportunity presented itself to read “Faustine” the first book in the “Bonfire Chronicles” by the lovely Imogen Rose, I jumped at the chance to get my grubby little paws on it. I have never been shy with my adoration of Rose’s ability to connect with her readers through her work, so my continued appreciation for her new venture should

Simone Weil once said: Imagination and fiction make up more than three-quarters of our real life. I would have to agree with her. As children we rely on our imaginations to entertain us. We build pillow forts and wage wars against our siblings. We pretend to be the Lone Ranger or Cinderella, anything to help pass the time. As we get older our need to play “Cops and Robbers” fades into the background, but a whole new culture of imagination and fiction take its place. We are introduced to movies, books, Broadway plays, all in an effort to be a

I’ve always been a fan of fast pace movies; “Crank” “Smoking Aces” hell, even “Sin City.” The non-stop action is like a gut check of adrenaline and no matter how hard I try I just can’t pull myself away. The same quality of action, however, is difficult to find in a book. The action is usually sidelined by descriptives or there is (almost always) another plot point that needs to be discussed; (which results in the reader being drug away (kicking and screaming) to another place.) The longer the book, the less “hyperactive,” it is… it’s almost inevitable, so when

Evening Kindle-ites! I have every intention of posting a review tonight, but an accident at work (my co-worker broke her wrist) left me a little behind schedule.. so, until I can finish what I’m reading (which should be in about 2 hours) I figured I would entertain yall in a different fashion. Book Trailers! Enjoy the show and I’ll see yall again in a few. Cheers! Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters
Writing short story reviews have always been the most challenging hurdle for me. Being a naturally wordy person (who tends to overanalyze;) finding that perfect balance between informative and well…”giving the milk away for free,” puts me into a tizzy. My instincts tell me to write a synopsis, break down characters, look for loop holes, but none of these are crucial when determining the WORTH of a short story, ENTERTAINMENT is. Was I entertained by what I just read? Was it a complete story or just a bunch of words cleverly arranged on a page? Was it good? These are the

Imaging for a second living your life in a fog. You get up, you go to work, do your duty and then come home. You don’t stop to have a drink with the girls, you don’t get excited about your nephew’s 1st birthday and kissing your significant other is not something you do because you love them, it’s something you do because it’s expected. Bright colors are frowned upon, poetry is blasphemy and the only music you are allowed to listen to is what “Big Brother” deems worthy. Image a life without passion. Passion for books, passion for movies…passion for

Every girl dreams of visiting Paris. Maybe it’s the lights, maybe it’s the inevitability of beauty, maybe we’ve been psychologically engineered since birth to equate “Love” with hot French dudes, (who knows,) the only thing that IS certain is that at some point, our hormone driven minds drift to this beautifully exotic place and think, “What if.” Most of us never get the chance to act on that subconscious need to spend hours on the steps of The Louvre writing poetry, and sipping blissfully bitter espresso. Others do, but regardless of which category we fall into, the dream of something
