Brain Candy

enchantment

I love learning new things. Usually they come in the form of lessons: “Slamming your hand in the oven hurts.” “Trees don’t move, avoid running into them.” “Leave the gun…take the canoli.” but in that rare opportunity that I get to expand my brain under the assumption of pure entertainment I get giddy. When I was in High School, Disney released a movie called “Anastasia.”  I loved this movie (Don’t judge me!) and as a result became unabashedly obsessed with the Romanov dynasty.  I watched movies about them, I scoured every National Geographic I could find, and pretty much made

Please Won’t You Sing For Me!

Much like all things paranormal a few years ago, or my obsession with Greek mythology last year, Dystopian/Post-Apocalyptic societies are very quickly becoming my new favorite schtick.  I’ve always adored a good zombie “end of the world” book, (that’s never going to change) but this up and coming genre, (unlike my brain slushy loving friends) goes past the obvious, (the world has gone to shit) and focuses on something else entirely…the struggle to accept reality in a harsh environment. The way in which civilization (as we currently know it) took a bullet between the eyes is (more often than not)

Book News! – Joe Wright’s ‘Anna Karenina’

950 (3)-kk

Joe Wright’s ‘Anna Karenina’ Film adaptations are not a new thing, (especially when it comes to a book like Anna Karenina) but what IS new is the way they are being filmed.  Joe Wright, (director of Pride & Prejudice, Atonement, and Hanna…just to name a few) has decided to make Anna his new pet project, and he is doing so in a way that is shocking the cinema world.  Instead of using all of the resources mother natures (and a black American Express card) can provide him, he has decided to film Anna Karenina on ONE STAGE! That’s right…say goodby
