All Hallows Read!

Happy Halloween Kindle-ites!!!  Besides ungodly amounts of sugary treats, my favorite part of Halloween is curling up with a scary book. There is just something about creepy crawlers and this time of year that gets me going, which made me think, “Hey Misty…what about your readers? Don’t you think THEY have some favorite scary books too?” So, after I reprimanded myself for ridiculous inner-dialogue I set out to find the answer and THIS is what I got back. Here are just 5 of the recommended books that I couldn’t help but agree with. Happy Reading! Click images for additional details […]

Sample Sunday Vol. 7

In keeping with the “Misty can’t really function right now” theme I’ve decided to bring back an old favorite. Sample Sunday! (insert very loud applause.) For the newbies out there let me give you a little 411.  Sunday is the day that Indie authors wait all week for. Why? Because they get to pimp themselves out without feeling guilty. That’s right, today is the day where hundreds of authors post links to samples of their work in hopes of someone (that would be you) finding it and (ultimately) purchasing the entire story.  Got it? Great. Now, since I’m a naturally […]

Morning Kindle-ites! Sorry for my absence this week, but my body had an alternate plan (I got a cold) which made reading/writing/thinking a little difficult.  I promise that next week will be better. Here is today’s freebie list.  I’m sorry for those of you that love romance, I’m a little short on the girly side today, but never fear…I’m sure next weeks list will have it’s fair share. For everyone else…Happy Reading! Are Book Covers Art?

Good Morning! So…I was reading an article the other day that was talking about the “new-age artist” (I’ll try to find the article again and post it…) Basically it said that as a whole, our society doesn’t appreciate art they way it used to. (#1. I think that is bullshit, I could spend HOURS in the MET and not bat an eye.) Anyways, Mr. McNegativity then went on to criticize what he thought was a horrible trend in modern day art. Book Covers. Long story short he said that artists that could really “make” something out of themselves are wasting […]

Coffee = Crack

“In 2083, chocolate and coffee are illegal, paper is hard to find, water is carefully rationed, and New York City is rife with crime and poverty. And yet, for Anya Balanchine, the sixteen-year-old daughter of the city’s most notorious (and dead) crime boss, life is fairly routine. It consists of going to school, taking care of her siblings and her dying grandmother, trying to avoid falling in love with the new assistant D.A.’s son, and avoiding her loser ex-boyfriend. That is until her ex is accidentally poisoned by the chocolate her family manufactures and the police think she’s to blame. Suddenly, Anya finds herself thrust unwillingly into the spotlight–at school, in the news, […]

Morning Kindle-ites!! I will have a review up later, but I thought I would share some really cool pictures with you first.  This morning I was updating my bucket list (don’t judge me) and found several kick-ass bookstores that I now want to live in.  Since I thought they were awe-worthy I thought you might as well. So enjoy the view and happy reading! – Misty The Photos are in order by ROW. For example: Row 1 (across) is El Ateneo. Roid Rage

Do you ever have those days where you want to do absolutely nothing; sit in bed and gorge out on bon-bons while the rest of the world does amazingly productive things? (Please nod your head because I don’t want to feel like  the only loser on the planet) Today was one of those days for me. Long story short, yesterday (the day I have formally dubbed “The Nursing Home Debacle of 2011″) sucked.  I spent hours (HOURS!) stuck in a Dr’s office surrounded by people who (despite my killer glare and several inconspicuous coughing fits) did NOT get the hint […]
